And the bride wore…Pants!

It really doesn’t matter how simple you go, if a wedding gown really isn’t you.  Opt for a trouser Suit for a really confident and glamorous look on your wedding day!

Do you remember the beautiful off-white shalwar kameez Princess Diana wore to a cancer fundraiser in London? The suit was a gift from friend Jemima Khan and would certainly suit anyone opting for something less traditional or a low key civil ceremony.

Trousers can offer a very romantic and feminine alternative for a bride who’s not afraid to show off her modern side.

Team your trouser suit with a wedding coat for added drama. A Coat doesn’t have to be just for winter weddings. Silk organza floats beautifully for a soft feminine feel to your day. Or use it as a cover up for a beach wedding so ward off those harmful rays as a temporary alternative to sunscreen.

If you rarely wear a dress and regardless of what other people think, adding tulle over silk crepe, a flurry of organza, silk and lace flowers will immediately make you feel like a bride without a hint of a skirt in sight!

Working With James Melia.

To love is to share life together, to build special plans just for two,to work side by side and then smile with pride as one by one, dreams all come true.

To love is to make special memories, of moments you love to recall, of all the good things that sharing life brings, love is the greatest of all.

I’ve learned the full meaning of sharing and caring and having my dreams all come true; I’ve learned the full meaning
of being in love by being and loving with you.   -Kellie Spehn –

It was quite a milestone birthday for one of my children this April. My daughter turned Sixteen. She’d asked for a photo shoot to showcase her prom gown I’d made for her along with some model shots. We decided to coincide the shoot with some personal images of the rest of the family, I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for eight years, we share a daughter, and we didn’t have a professional photographer at the wedding. Big mistake!

So, why choose James? He has a style that I love and enjoy working with him and I knew he would capture my family beautifully, just the way I wanted it. He arrived with my other dear friend Jo Bilham and off we trotted to begin the first set of shots at my studio. We’ve had many comments on what a beautiful family I have. I do, but I am biased.

If you haven’t chosen a wedding photographer yet, have a look at these images and know how wonderful we think he is.

Thank you James. Memories to treasure forever.

Making sure your gown is like no-one else’s

“Be sure it doesn’t look like something you can buy in a store.

Be sure people will gasp when they see it.”

The most appropriate quote  ever and one which has become the ethos of No.9 Bridal Couture.

Many of our clients come to our studio after trying on a gown in a shop and telling us. “It looked horrible on me. Nothing like it did in the magazine.”

Well, it wouldn’t, would it?

Of course you want to look like that. And why shouldn’t you?

The other point to consider is seeing your beloved ‘The One’ appear on a real life bride among the glossies, or heaven forbid, discover your best friend has the same gown and thinking. “That’s MY dress!”

At No.9 Bridal Couture, we pride ourselves on individuality, so you never have to contend with  worrying that your gown could ever look better on anyone else.

The gowns we make for  our website are not available to buy in other shops, however many clients love the styles but personalize them to retain their individuality. They are samples to show what we as dressmakers can do. Our ability if you like. The minute we have ‘stockists’ it devalues our ethos instantly! We’ve been approached not only by stores, but trade shows too.

We use everyday people, not models, to show that our gowns look great on people who are not a size 6 and 6 feet tall! Our prom model, Ellie is going to her own prom this year!

Take a look at a few more unreleased images from our recent photo shoot showcasing what we can achieve when working alongside not only great friends, but super talented people too!

We’ll begin with our occasion wear and Prom – We don’t just ‘do’ weddings!
